Baby Step 11
Dear Mama, If you're feeling overwhelmed about starting the homeschooling year, come join us on our baby steps path to a peaceful home and rhythm. Start at baby step 1! Love, Kelly Today we’re going to choose a verse and a song to learn by heart.
Songs and verses are an important part of the learning content and process in kindy and the grades, and they are also wonderful for guiding the rhythms of your days and weeks. I suggest that you begin your homeschooling days with a song and/or verse that stays the same all year long.
Today choose one song and one verse that you would like to learn. Write them out in your best handwriting on a notecard or a square cut from a watercolor painting. Keep your card handy to help you learn the words by heart while you’re washing dishes, folding laundry, sitting near your child’s bath, etc.
Once you have these memorized use them as part of your rhythm, circle time, or just sing as you go about your day. Choose your next song and verse to learn right away. Stay in the habit and you’ll build up a wonderful repertoire! You’ll love having all these songs in your back pocket, I promise.
You did it! If you want to celebrate and find motivation with other awesome mamas, head over to this post on facebook and let us know what song and verse you're learning this week!
P.S. I’m just gonna say it. One of my favorite parts of the Lavender’s Blue Kindergarten and First Grade Curriculums is that they are chock full of songs and verses to use in circle or any time, all recorded for you for easy learning. Also I hope you’ve seen the songs and circles here on the blog!
