Baby Step 16

Dear Mama, If you're feeling overwhelmed about starting the homeschooling year, come join us on our baby steps path to a peaceful home and rhythm.  Start at baby step 1!  Love, Kelly Today we’re going to get outside time with our children every day!

I’m a huge fan of the curative powers of being outside - for children and adults. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and like you can’t keep on top of things, taking a break to go out for a walk is one of the best things you can do. If you’ve been sending your child out to play so that you can get stuff done, make sure you go out to play too! Get some movement and playtime with your child. Go for a walk together, or take a walk yourself after your partner is home. Take your lessons, snack, or read aloud time outside. Let your children color or play with playdough outside while you work on your knitting. Give yourselves the simple gift of sunlight and fresh air, and it will give you the energy you need to tackle everything else!

Where I live we’ve been outside for most of the day all summer long. It will start to get chilly soon though and stay very cold for a very long time. So now is the time when I need to make going outside part of our ironclad daily rhythm so we have the momentum to carry us through the winter season.

You’re done!  If you want to celebrate and find motivation with other awesome mamas, head over to this post on facebook and let us know - when will you go outside every day?
